Recommendations
Mexico City is the largest city in the Western Hemisphere, which means the options for eating, drinking, and exploring can be… a bit overwhelming. So, we put together a custom map of our favorite places in both CDMX and Tepoztlán — spots we genuinely love and hope you’ll enjoy while you’re here for the wedding.
From tacos and cocktails to relaxed breakfasts and off-the-beaten-path gems, this map includes food, drinks, and a few activities if you’re in the mood to explore. Tap around the map below to see our curated picks — we’re so excited to share a bit of our life (and taste) with you.
If you’d like to add this map to your personal Google Maps so you don’t have to reference this page all the time, please click the button below and save the map to your maps.
The Avoid List
In addition to our recommended list above, below is our OVERRATED list of places that are popular… but seriously, just don’t. We will say we told you so.
- Pujol – It’s expensive for the sake of being expensive. The definition of overrated. If you MUST, we recommend the taco menu at the bar.
- Handshake Speakeasy – We will be so sad if you go here. What a waste of your time. We’re sure it was good before it made the 50 Best Bars list but now it’s a machine. Longgg lines of Americans, they unceremoniously kick you out after two drinks or 1.5 hours (whichever comes first), there wasn’t a single drink Matt liked, it was expensive and the music was super weird. A terrible experience. Literally save yourselves and go anywhere else. *shudder*
- Orinoco Tacos – We genuinely don’t get the hype. They’re super greasy and not better than other taquerias around. Also, the owner was caught on camera physically abusing one of his young employees outside one of his stores. And for that alone, we will never go back.
- Gin Gin – Lol to Gin Gin. No you’re not crazy, you have seen like six of them. And every single one of them is an overpriced American tourist trap masquerading as a cocktail bar. Not your worst decision (that’s Handshake), but you can do soooo much better.
